Headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, the Monumental City Bar Association has a long legacy and rich history as an advocate for African-American attorneys and the interests of the African American community in Baltimore City.

Interested in serving on our committees?

The Continuing Legal Education and Programs Committee plans and promotes activities and programs for the educational enrichment of its members and the community at large.

The Judicial Selection Committee interview candidates for judicial appointments for courts throughout the State of Maryland and makes recommendations for the selection of judges for the State of Maryland.

The Long Range Planning Committee identifies current and future leaders for the medium and long term progress of the organization. This committee also identifies strategic partnerships and funding sources for programming.

The Membership Committee oversees the membership information and preforms activities to recruit individuals and expand the Organizations membership.

The Nominating Committee manages the process of nominating members for executive board positions.

The Technology Committee identifies, evaluates and implements solutions to meet the technology needs of the Organization. This committee maintains the website, social media profiles, and electronic communication for MCBA.

The Legislative Affairs Committee monitors proposed legislation and in coordination with the Executive Board formulates positions on legislation. The Committee may also make recommendations the Executive Board on the enactment of legislation.

The Young Lawyers Committee plans and promotes activities and programs geared towards the enrichment of young lawyers. The BLSA Liaisons serve as connections between MCBA and the Black Law Students Associations at the University of Baltimore and the University of Maryland law schools.

In order to increase the networks of our members and to support black attorneys throughout Maryland, MCBA maintains a presence among various bar associations. In addition to our National Bar Association Delegates, during the 2019-2020 bar year we have the following liaisons

  • Baltimore County Bar Association Liaison (Kim Rothwell and Judge Kevin Wiggins)
